The resident survey results are here!
At the end of 2023 around 50% of former Coastal residents were invited to take part in our bi-annual resident survey. Residents were selected at random by Knowledge Partnership who run the survey on Beacon’s behalf (formally Coastal). Using an independent specialist company such as Knowledge Partnership ensures responses are collected and processed fairly and provides residents with confidence that responses remain anonymous.
We received 748 responses, which equates to about 1 in 4 surveys issued. The surveys were sent out via email and paper which differed from the last survey which relied on email and phone responses. The change in methodology may have affected the results as phone surveys can result in to a more positive response bias, however it was felt that the paper and digital surveys provided greater value for money.
It’s really important for us to receive feedback from residents as it helps us to understand satisfaction with the services we offer and what areas we need to improve.

As a result of the feedback from the last survey in 2021/22, we made a number of changes to the way we work for example;
You said: 33.1% of residents told us they were satisfied with how Coastal dealt with anti-social behaviour.
We did: The survey identified anti-social behaviour as an area that needed improvement. As a result an intervention was launched where we gathered feedback from residents. This resulted in us changing how we deal with reports of anti-social behaviour. We have also recently created a new Community Safety Team who are committed to working alongside residents and partner agencies to prevent anti-social behaviour in our communities further information can be found here.
You said: 65.2% of residents agree they have a say in how services operate.
We did: As part of the survey, we asked you if there were any areas of the business you would like to be involved with. As a result we have sought your views on a number of key areas including our approach to sustainability, rent setting, office opening hours and performance improvement. We also have a new Engagement Strategy to drive this work forward. If you would like to be more involved, please let us know by emailing us at ask@coastalha.co.uk
